What is Long Term Community Housing?

Yumba-Meta Housing currently manages 138 Long Term tenancies for rental. Properties are available for families or individuals requiring housing that is secure, appropriate and affordable and where their needs cannot be adequately met by other housing options. Rents are based on 25 per cent of assessable income. Eligibility criteria and duration of need conditions apply.

All YMHAL Long Term Housing is allocated through the Department of Housing and Public Works, Housing Register.

Homelessness to Home Ownership Initiative

YMHAL identified the need for clients to have more exit points from social housing to other forms of affordable, appropriate and secure housing . YMHAL has invested in 50 acres of land at Thorn Street Mount Louisa. Townsville City Council has approved 39 lots of land for development. YMHAL will fulfil its mission of "Homelessness to Home ownership" through this project. YMHAL now fulfils its committment to its members to provide and support a range of housing issues, through its homelessness programs , social housing program and now the Home ownership program.  The land is nearing completion of civil works and lots will be ready for sale to the market before mid 2017.  

Employment Related Accommodation Program

This program (ERAP) is funded through the National Partnership Agreement (NPARI). The purpose is to provide accommodation and support to Indigenous people moving from remote communities to access education, training, and employment.
